aimed at invalidating his reelection as the representative for Doguwa/Tudunwada Federal Constituency in Kano.

In delivering the verdict on Abdullahi’s petition against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Justice L.B. Owolabi stated that the petitioner had not substantiated his claims beyond reasonable doubt as required by law.

Justice Owolabi further pointed out that the petitioner’s three primary allegations – involving alleged corrupt practices by Doguwa, non-compliance with electoral regulations, and the failure to secure lawful votes – lacked a solid foundation and could not serve as valid reasons for annulling the election.

Regarding the claim of election violence, the petitioner’s 21 witnesses provided testimony contradicting such allegations, affirming that no violence had occurred during the election.

The court, in a unanimous decision, concurred that all 32 witnesses presented by the petitioner failed to provide compelling evidence to challenge the election’s validity.

While delivering the judgment, the presiding judge expressed skepticism about how the petitioner’s witnesses could have all arrived at their respective polling stations simultaneously, observed over-voting in every unit, yet failed to recognize the result sheets. As a result, their evidence was deemed insufficient to withstand scrutiny.

“The petitioner, in sum, has not presented a case capable of nullifying Alhassan Ado Doguwa’s election. Consequently, he is duly returned as the elected representative by a majority vote,” the judge declared.
