In his statement, he said, “The Borno State Government regrets to announce the passing of Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the State Commissioner of Finance.”

The Information Commissioner also mentioned that the burial for the late Ahmed is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Monday at his family house on Damboa Road, behind Indimi’s residence.

Earlier, Naija News reported the sudden passing of the Finance Commissioner. According to sources familiar with the incident, the commissioner was found dead in his room on Monday morning after failing to come out at his usual time. When his door was forced open, his lifeless body was discovered.

“Oga is no more; he passed away early this morning,” one source revealed.

In a related development, at least six people were reportedly killed by suspected bandits in a recent attack in Benue State. The incident occurred in two separate assaults within the Agatu Local Government Area.

Reports indicate that one person was killed in the Iwari community, while five others were slain on Friday in Olegagbane. A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that the gunmen targeted Iwari yesterday, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

“On Friday, August 23, 2024, the gunmen also attacked Olegagbane, killing five people,” the resident told Daily Trust.

Confirming the attack, the Chairman of Agatu LGA, Phillip Ebenyakwu, stated, “It’s true. These armed invaders kill, steal, loot, and then flee. Their motives remain unclear, but they continue to return and attack. The situation has become unbearable.”

Ebenyakwu also expressed concern about the growing challenges in managing displaced persons from the affected communities.
