DSS Frees Journalist And Soyinka, But Retains Passport
....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released Adejuwon Soyinka, the Regional Editor of The Conversation Africa and an investigative journalist, after detaining him upon his arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. Soyinka was arrested early Sunday morning following his landing on a Virgin Atlantic flight from the United Kingdom.

The DSS did not immediately disclose the reason for Soyinka’s detention, and initial attempts to reach him were unsuccessful. A friend of Soyinka, who informed Punch about the situation, expressed concern over the lack of information and communication regarding the arrest.

The friend stated, “Adejuwon Soyinka was detained by DSS officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 5:40 am on August 25, 2024, shortly after arriving from the UK. No reason has been provided for his detention, and he has been unreachable as calls and messages have gone unanswered.”

Later, the friend updated that Soyinka had been released from DSS custody, though his passport was retained. “He has been released from the DSS office in Ikoyi, but they are still holding onto his passport.”
