This advice came during a courtesy visit to his office at the National Assembly by a delegation from the advocacy group, Women’s Round-table for Development and Good Governance.

Emphasizing the importance of women’s involvement beyond the federal legislature, Kalu suggested extending advocacy efforts to address leadership gaps at the local government level, including councillorship positions, and House of Assembly membership at the state level.

He highlighted the need for leadership to originate from the grassroots, emphasizing a bottom-to-top approach.

While acknowledging that the advocacy has primarily focused on the federal legislature, Kalu stressed the significance of women identifying and pursuing opportunities to address gender imbalances in various leadership positions.

Kalu commended President Bola Tinubu for promoting the inclusion of women in his administration and expressed the National Assembly’s commitment to revisiting and passing rejected gender bills.
