The directive includes the immediate recruitment and training of professionals to ensure the operational readiness of these dialysis centers by June 2024.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Center at Immanuel General Hospital, Eket.
This center was generously donated by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer.
Governor Eno emphasized the importance of preventing underutilization of the facilities due to a shortage of personnel. Consequently, he ordered the deployment of relevant personnel from state hospitals to the dialysis centers.
Additionally, he approved the swift recruitment of qualified individuals and instructed the Head of the Civil Service to expedite their absorption, ensuring permanent staffing for effective operation.
Governor Eno stressed the need for an aggressive public awareness campaign about kidney-related ailments and preventative measures.
He directed the Ministry of Health to collaborate with the Ministry of Information and the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor for a comprehensive sensitization effort.
The Commissioner for Health, Professor Augustine Umoh, highlighted the significance of the intervention, citing dialysis as a crucial method for managing kidney failure.
He commended the State Government’s partnership with RCCG, acknowledging the church’s contribution of three dialysis machines along with accessories to the newly commissioned center.
