Bidei, who served as a member of the state’s executive council, reportedly passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. While the exact cause of her death remains unknown, her passing was confirmed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai.
The state government expressed deep sadness over the loss, emphasizing that Bidei’s unwavering commitment to improving lives will ensure her legacy endures.
The statement read:
“The Governor, Senator Douye Diri, and the government of Bayelsa State received the shocking news of the demise of Mrs. Elizabeth Bidei on Monday, December 30, 2024.
“Until her passing, Mrs. Bidei was the Commissioner for Women Affairs and a valued member of the Bayelsa State Executive Council.
“Our thoughts are with the bereaved family, especially her widower, Chief Jackson Bidei, and their children. We offer our sincerest sympathies and prayers during this deeply painful time of loss.
“Mrs. Bidei’s life and work left an indelible mark on our state and its people. Her dedication as a public servant and her tireless efforts to promote the welfare and empowerment of women will forever be remembered.
“As a key member of the Executive Council, she played an instrumental role in shaping policies and programs that benefited the people of Bayelsa State. Her passing creates a void that will be difficult to fill.
