Breaking: Disregard Strike Warning Labor Affirms It As A Hoax....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has strongly refuted the authenticity of a purported circular circulating on social media. The circular, which claims to be from the General Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Emma Ugbaja, and the Secretary General of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Comrade Nuhu Toro, suggests a nationwide strike action starting on December 18, 2023.

The circular, titled “NLC/TUC Nationwide Strike Action: A Gentle Reminder,” instructs all workers in Nigeria to withdraw their services from midnight on December 18, without specifying the reasons for the alleged strike. It further directs affiliate unions and state councils of NLC/TUC to issue circulars for maximum compliance.

However, the General Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Emma Ugbaja, has vehemently denied any knowledge of the proposed strike. He labeled the circulating memo as “absolutely fake” and urged workers to disregard it. According to Ugbaja, the circular did not originate from either the NLC or the TUC.

In his statement, Comrade Ugbaja advised workers not to be misled by the misinformation on social media and emphasized that the two labor centers remain committed to the welfare of Nigerian workers. He assured that any official communication regarding labor actions would be properly disseminated through official channels, and workers should exercise caution and await authentic updates from the recognized labor bodies.

This clarification aims to dispel any confusion among workers and the public regarding the alleged strike, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified information from official sources.
