According to the statement, “In recognition of the continual dedication of public servants and the administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare, Mr. Governor has generously sanctioned a 50% end-of-year bonus based on basic salary for all political appointees and public servants. This extends to employees of local governments, local council development areas, the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.
“In addition, the Governor has given the green light for the implementation of the wage award (palliative), pending the review of the national minimum wage. Consequently, the 50% end-of-year bonus and the wage award (palliative) will be disbursed alongside the December 2023 salary.”
The circular urges public servants to maintain a commitment to excellence in delivering qualitative services in line with the Governor’s THEMES+ Agenda. Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies are instructed to disseminate the information widely.
Workers, in response to the announcement, expressed joy and appreciation for the Governor’s considerate gesture. A civil servant, Mr. Adeoti, conveyed his happiness, stating, “I am really short of words to express my heartfelt joy. It is coming at this critical period. It’s indeed a relief for many. We pray to God to continue to give him the wisdom and ability to pilot the state. We really appreciate this.”
Mrs. Akinola also expressed gratitude for the December bonus, labeling Sanwo-Olu as the Governor of the Year. She remarked, “All I can say now is that our Governor, Sanwo-Olu, is the Governor of the Year for this kind gesture. It will go a long way in having a wonderful Xmas and New Year celebration.
