Former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has made it clear that he does not wish to be labeled as a godfather figure in Kaduna. This assertion came to light during a Capacity-Enhancement Workshop for Senior Government Officials in Borno State, where El-Rufai emphasized his stance on non-interference in Kaduna’s affairs.

El-Rufai highlighted that since his departure from office almost a year ago, he has only visited Kaduna on five occasions. His reluctance to assume a godfather role stems from his belief in allowing the current governor to govern independently and develop his leadership skills.

Expressing the importance of effective leadership, El-Rufai emphasized the need for capable individuals to surround a leader to achieve success. He stressed that even the most proficient leader cannot accomplish everything alone and that the quality of civil services greatly influences a country’s progress.
