Tahir Mamman, during a meeting with a delegation of Anthology Executives from the United States in Abuja on Thursday.
Prof. Mamman emphasized the potential of the Blackboard platform to enhance educational development through technology, facilitating easy access to online academic resources.
The move aims to overcome challenges related to limited physical learning capacity and the accessibility of credible learning materials.
Expressing his commitment to technological advancements in education, Prof. Mamman pledged necessary support through relevant policies to ensure the success of the Blackboard project in the country.
Arc. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), who led the Anthology Executives delegation, highlighted the Blackboard platform’s role in establishing a Center of Excellence in Nigeria for online learning methodologies.
He emphasized the platform’s capacity to enroll approximately 2.2 million student users across 253 beneficiary institutions of the Fund, with plans to extend it to private institutions, increasing the target to 3 million students.
Joe Belenardo, the President of Anthology, underscored the transformative potential of Blackboard, a learning management system with 6,000 clients and 150 million students globally.
The technology is designed to provide solutions and business development opportunities, contributing to the global digital transformation of education.
