BREAKING: House Of Reps Postpones Plenary Resumption, New Date Fixed

The House of Representatives has shifted its resumption of plenary sessions by two weeks, moving the earlier date of Tuesday, September 23, to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

In a memo addressed to lawmakers, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Yahaya Danzaria, announced the change and expressed regret over the sudden adjustment.

“With deep regrets, Honourable Members are hereby informed that the resumption of plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, has been rescheduled. The new date of resumption is Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Kindly take note and make the necessary adjustments to your schedules accordingly,” the notice read.

Although no official reason was provided for the postponement, members were advised to adjust their schedules accordingly. The extension effectively prolongs the recess, delaying legislative activities in the Green Chamber.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, has refuted claims that lawmakers oppose President Bola Tinubu’s borrowing plans.

Speaking in Abuja at the 8th Annual African Network of Parliamentary Budget Offices (AN-PBO) Conference, Abbas described such reports as false and misleading. He clarified that a recent speech delivered by the House Leader at the West African Parliamentary Conference (WAPC) was misinterpreted, stressing that the House is not against the administration’s borrowing initiatives.
