Speaking to Punch on Thursday, the Labour Party’s National Spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh, labeled the reports of defection as unfounded media distractions, emphasizing that neither Obi nor Otti has declared any intention to leave the party.

“What’s the big deal about it? It is all speculation. As far as we are concerned, Otti has not told us he is leaving,” Ifoh said.

When asked about Peter Obi’s position, Ifoh confirmed that Obi remains a dedicated member and leader of the Labour Party.

“Our former presidential candidate, His Excellency Peter Obi, and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State are leaders of the Labour Party and have never ceased being leaders of the party. Until they say otherwise, they are still our leaders,” he stated.

Ifoh further emphasized that both Obi and Otti, along with the National Chairman Julius Abure and National Assembly members, are actively committed to advancing the party’s vision and goals.

“These rumors are mere distractions created by the media to stir unnecessary controversy. Our presidential candidate has not left the party, and Governor Alex Otti remains firmly with us,” he added.
