Following these findings, police have re-arrested seven of the fourteen family members who were earlier questioned in connection with Akingboye’s death. Initially, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, had interrogated nine close relatives and aides.

Investigators have also flagged a suspicious ₦50 million transfer from Akingboye’s account, reportedly shared among some immediate family members shortly before his death.

Akingboye was reported dead on September 3, with family members claiming his body was discovered in the backyard of his Lagos residence under unclear circumstances. His first son, Samuel Akingboye, who resides in Ondo State, promptly alerted authorities, demanding a full investigation to determine the true cause of death.

CP Jimoh reiterated that the Command is now awaiting legal guidance from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), after which charges will be filed against anyone found culpable.
