Music Drama Unveiled: Samklef Names Olamide As Don Jazzy’s Humbling Moment

Samklef made the claim while responding to the backlash Olamide is currently facing for naming Wizkid “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.”
In a post on on Saturday, Samklef argued that Olamide deserves widespread respect for breaking the cycle of gatekeeping in the Nigerian music scene.
He wrote, “Devil go punish anybody wey talk down on Olamide! His impact in the industry is even something Don Jazzy learns from.
“It was Olamide who humbled Don Jazzy after that Headies wahala and broke the chain of industry gatekeepers. Na him make Don Jazzy dey wear this new mask.
“After Wizkid, na Olamide get the real street credibility.”
Both Don Jazzy and Olamide are regarded as some of Nigeria’s most influential music executives, thanks to the numerous talents they have nurtured to stardom through their record labels.
Don Jazzy played a pivotal role in the rise of Wande Coal, D’Prince, Dr Sid, and several others through the now-defunct Mo’Hits Records, which he co-owned with D’banj. After Mo’Hits split, he launched Mavin Records, producing stars such as Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Johnny Drille, Rema, and Ayra Starr.
Meanwhile, Olamide has propelled the careers of artists like Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML, Asake, and many more through his YBNL record label.
