According to a statement posted on X, the Artillery Corps plays a crucial role in providing heavy firepower support to allied forces on the battlefield.
During the retirement parade, Major General James Myam (retd.) spoke on behalf of the retired officers, reflecting on their fulfilling military careers and expressing gratitude for their service. He credited their achievements to divine grace and acknowledged Godās protection throughout their time in the military.
Myam thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and extended his appreciation to Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, wishing him continued strength in his leadership.
He also advised current officers to remain loyal to the Constitution and the democratically elected government while emphasizing the importance of vigilance and security awareness. The event was attended by numerous senior retired and serving military officers, including former Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Alwali Kazir (retd.).
