While full details of the incident remain unclear, eyewitnesses told The Sun that residents fled the area in panic as the gunmen carried out their assault. The once-bustling community is now largely deserted, with fear gripping local residents.

This tragic incident comes just two days after another violent attack in which a police officer lost their life. On Sunday night, two officers assigned to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a member of the House of Representatives for Isiala-Ngwa North/South Constituency, were ambushed in Umuahia. The attack, which occurred around 8:30 p.m., resulted in the death of one officer from multiple gunshot wounds, while another officer and a driver managed to escape.

Efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, for an official statement are still underway.
