The governor’s decision to relax the curfew was aimed at improving security and maintaining public order. The announcement was made in a statement from Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, which was shared with journalists in Jos, the state capital.

The statement noted: “Due to the improved security situation in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau State Government has decided to relax the previously imposed 24-hour curfew. Starting Wednesday, August 7, 2024, residents will be allowed to move freely between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm daily until further notice.”

Governor Mutfwang, who made this decision after consulting with security agencies, commended their dedication to enforcing the curfew. He stressed the need for ongoing vigilance to prevent any potential disruption of law and order and assured that the curfew will be reviewed as the situation continues to improve.

The governor also encouraged residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities for immediate action. He praised the public for their patriotism and adherence to the curfew, emphasizing that their cooperation is essential for the state’s collective well-being.
