Governor Adeleke reportedly embarked on a working vacation outside the state about a month ago, according to his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed. However, the APC claims that there has been a lack of updates on the governor’s movements since his departure, leading to speculation and uncertainty.
Lawal emphasized the importance of transparency and urged Adeleke’s media team to provide accurate information about the governor’s well-being and location. He underscored that as a politically exposed figure, Governor Adeleke’s health and activities are matters of public interest, especially given the extended period without updates.
“Adeleke must rise up to his constitutional responsibilities of providing qualitative governance for the people. It is important for the Adeleke handlers to keep watch over him to ensure that he desists from the cumulative effects of the factors responsible for his current questionable health status,” Lawal stated.
In response to the APC’s concerns, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Sunday Bisi, released a statement affirming that Governor Adeleke is expected to return to the country this week after a one-month vacation abroad. Bisi dismissed claims of health concerns and asserted that the governor used the vacation to relax, recharge, and coordinate state affairs from abroad.
Bisi accused the APC of baseless speculations, emphasizing that Adeleke’s absence did not hinder his commitment to governance. He assured the public that upon the governor’s return, there would be an intensified focus on delivering development projects and promoting good governance in Osun State.
As the controversy surrounding Governor Adeleke’s whereabouts continues, the political landscape in Osun remains tense, with the APC and PDP exchanging words over the governor’s absence and the state of affairs in his absence.
