Garba emphasized that Wike’s political capital is primarily sustained by his position as the FCT Minister and cautioned that without it, the loyalty of Wike’s current political associates might become uncertain. He shared these thoughts through a post on his social media handle on Monday.

The warning issued by Garba serves as advice to the APC, urging the party to tread carefully to avoid inheriting unnecessary hostilities from the people. The backdrop of this statement is the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, highlighted by the recent defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Garba’s analysis underlined the significance of Wike’s role, stating, “As it stands now, the only thing holding Wike’s political capital is the seat as the FCT Minister. If he ceases to be FCT minister, the loyalty from his current team cannot be guaranteed.”

Furthermore, Garba highlighted the entrenched presence of the PDP in Rivers State, describing it as a traditional stronghold for the party. He pointed out that various sectors, including establishments and traditional rulers, align with the PDP, and the grassroots support has historically been in favor of the party.

In conclusion, Garba emphasized the need for caution in navigating the political landscape, especially in regions where the support base is deeply rooted in a particular party. He urged the APC to avoid unnecessary animosity that could hinder the party’s prospects in future elections, stressing the importance of securing the support of the people.
