Breaking News APC Withdraws From Edo Election Peace Agreement....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an unexpected move, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that it will not sign the peace accord, just two hours before the scheduled signing ceremony. This decision comes ahead of the September 21 governorship election, for which the accord was meant to ensure a peaceful and cooperative electoral environment among competing parties.
Previously, Governor Godwin Obaseki had hinted that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), might also opt out of the peace accord due to a lack of confidence in the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
At a press conference held at the party secretariat, APC spokesperson Emperor Jarret Tenebe explained that the party’s decision was influenced by the unresolved case of police inspector Onuh Akor. Akor, who served as the orderly to the APC’s candidate Sen. Monday Okpebholo, was shot and killed along Airport Road two months ago, and no arrests or prosecutions have followed.
Further details will be provided soon.
