According to a statement released by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale on Sunday, the NOA’s plea for collaboration was made during a courtesy visit by Mr. Mkpoutim Ufort Mkpoutom, the Akwa Ibom State Director, to the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC.

The NOA state director emphasized that the collaboration was not only aimed at tackling cybercrime but also at enhancing Nigeria’s image. He stressed the importance of fostering national pride among citizens by addressing criminal activities that tarnish the country’s reputation.

Highlighting the detrimental impact of crime on the nation’s standing, the NOA director stated, “Since we are concerned about the health of the nation as you are, we must continue to work together, and we all must say ‘no’ to every form of crime because no crime is small or big.”

In response, the Uyo Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Assistant Commander Bawa Hamidu, expressed gratitude for the timely visit, acknowledging its significance in the context of the Commission’s focus on public education for crime prevention.

Hamidu recognized the vital role of the NOA in public sensitization and urged them to actively participate in the EFCC’s outreach efforts, particularly in schools. Emphasizing the need to address the rising trend of cybercrimes, he highlighted the importance of intelligence-sharing, noting that the NOA’s widespread presence could contribute significantly to the Commission’s efforts.

Overall, the collaboration between NOA and EFCC aims to create a united front against cybercrime, with a focus on education and public awareness to curb the prevalence of such activities in the country.
