After the destruction of a 330KVA transmission line by Boko Haram in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni has reached out to the Federal Government for assistance in reconstructing the damaged transmission towers. In response to the crisis, Governor Buni has instructed the State Rural Electrification Board and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to promptly restore the 330KVA transmission line from Potiskum to Damaturu to ensure an alternative power supply for the affected areas.
The press release emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the situation and urged the public to be patient. Additionally, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has already awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the damaged transmission towers. The attack, carried out by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, targeted transmission towers in Kasaisa, a suburb community near Damaturu, on Thursday night.
