According to a friend of the deceased, Fatima Gambo, Hafiz, in his final attempt to seek an extension, was allegedly stabbed by the wife of the couple. The couple then purportedly kept his body in their residence, misleading the family by claiming he had undergone surgery and died in the hospital.

Upon the family’s arrival from Bauchi State for the burial, they discovered the body still bleeding, raising suspicions. Hafizu Salisu, the deceased’s brother, alerted the police, leading to an ongoing investigation.

Haruna Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, directed a team to conduct a preliminary investigation. The medical examination revealed injuries on the body suspected to be knife stabs.

Hasfat Surajo, the female housewife, admitted to stabbing the deceased while he tried to prevent her from committing suicide. The husband, Dayyabu Abdullahi, and their gateman, Mallam Adam, were also arrested for concealing the body. The recovered knife with bloodstains will undergo further investigation, and charges will be filed accordingly.
