The former Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kogi State, Momohjimoh Adeiza, has urged practicing journalists to prioritize holding those in authority accountable through their reportage. Adeiza also called upon political players to establish a power-sharing arrangement in the state, in line with agreements made by their founding fathers.

Adeiza made these remarks during a farewell speech delivered at an election where Ademu Seidu emerged as the new Chairman of NUJ, Kogi State Council. Seidu, an employee of the Kogi State Ministry of Information, was elected during the union’s triennial delegate conference in Lokoja.

The outgoing Chairman emphasized the need for unity in politics, urging politicians to work together to formulate a power-sharing model for the state. He advocated for a rotational governorship, citing its success in other states like Niger, as a means to foster peace, progress, and prosperity.

Regarding the recently concluded Kogi State Governorship election, Adeiza expressed concern about the divisive nature of politics in the region, emphasizing the importance of overcoming ethnic differences for the greater good. He called on political players to engage in constructive dialogue to establish a fair and equitable rotational governorship system.
