On the alarming rate of out-of-school children in the North, Sani stressed the need for governors to allocate limited resources to education and health. He acknowledged the voiced concerns from various groups about the potential consequences of having a large population of out-of-school children, such as the risk of future Boko Haram members. Regarding the removal of ACF’s chairman, Gabriel Aduku, Sani clarified that Aduku had not been inaugurated and referred to him as “chairman-elect.” He explained that the replacement was influenced by complaints from Governor Yahaya Bello and the dissatisfaction of the Kogi State chapter of ACF with Aduku’s political activities.
In response to allegations that ACF played into the hands of Yahaya Bello for selfish and sectional interests, Sani reiterated that the decision was based on compliance with the concerns raised by the Kogi State chapter. He dismissed claims of polarization within ACF, citing the peaceful conduct of the General Assembly as evidence to the contrary. Sani also addressed the emergence of other regional forums and stressed that ACF remains the umbrella parent body for most northern groups.
Finally, regarding the incident in Tudun Biri, Sani acknowledged errors in past bombings by the Air Force but cautioned against giving such incidents ethnic and religious coloration. He urged a focus on improving the training of Air Force personnel and ensuring the procurement of correct equipment.
