In a broadcast addressing the state on the occasion of the 2023 Christmas celebration, Governor Fubara expressed his acceptance of the terms outlined in the peace deal, highlighting the positive impact of the presidential intervention in fostering an environment conducive to resolving the political strife in the region.
Governor Fubara acknowledged the diverse reactions triggered by the directives, emphasizing that, upon careful scrutiny, he found the terms of the pact to be more reasonable than perceived by some. He reassured the public that the agreement is not an overly punitive measure but rather a constructive step toward achieving lasting peace and stability in the state.
“As a key participant in the entire saga, I have dedicated considerable time to thoroughly assess the terms of the agreement. Contrary to certain portrayals, the Peace Pact is not an insurmountable challenge. It provides a pathway to enduring peace and stability in our beloved state,” Governor Fubara stated.
He went on to affirm his commitment to the Presidential Peace Proclamation, pledging to implement its principles in a manner that restores political stability to the state while safeguarding the collective interests of the people and preserving democratic values.
