According to an account from a villager reported by Vanguard, the attack occurred on a Sunday, where two of the kidnapped individuals managed to escape as they were being led into the bush behind the village. Shockingly, one of the abducted men was reportedly forcibly taken away without a shirt or footwear.

While Gbaupe has experienced criminal attacks before, the scale of this kidnapping incident marks an unprecedented level of brutality for the village. Local Vigilante members attempted to confront the kidnappers, but they were overpowered due to the assailants’ superior firepower.

The region encompassing Gbau, Kuje, Gauge, Pegi, Abaji, Keti, and Kwali has been a hotspot for kidnappings for over three years, with criminals operating with little opposition.

As of the latest update, the kidnappers had not yet contacted the families of the victims as of 9:15 am. A resident, speaking anonymously, revealed that the kidnappers, numbering around 15, carried out their operation from 12:15 am to 2:46 am, firing shots sporadically throughout the ordeal. Tragically, one vigilante member lost his life in the confrontation. This incident marks the third kidnapping event in the area this year.

In a separate but equally distressing incident, bandits kidnapped a nursing mother and three children in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The attackers reportedly invaded the community between 7 pm and 9 pm on a Sunday night, abducting a mother, her six-month-old baby, and two other children. Residents expressed frustration, stating that this was the fifth consecutive kidnapping without any meaningful intervention from the government.
