Tony Okocha expressed his delight at the defection, referring to it as “heaven’s gains” for the APC. He informed the media that the party had been officially notified of the lawmakers’ decision to join the APC.

According to Okocha, the administration was initially built on the principles of “consolidation and continuity,” but he argued that Governor Fubara’s actions were in complete contradiction to the original plan. Okocha claimed that the state was experiencing a lack of development, describing the current situation as “complete aberration” and asserting that “there is hunger in the land.”

He concluded by asserting that the defection of the 27 lawmakers would serve as a crucial mechanism for checks and balances in the government, and he applauded their decision, welcoming them into the APC with open arms.
