Highlighting the challenges associated with these policies in an economy where over 60 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, Otti acknowledged that immediate results might not be easy to achieve. However, he urged Nigerians to remain patient and stay committed to the policies, believing that over time, positive changes would manifest.

In a separate development, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka announced his intention to evaluate President Tinubu’s administration after the first year of his tenure. During a courtesy visit to Tinubu in Lagos, Soyinka explained that he follows a personal policy of allowing heads of state a one-year grace period to address challenges and make up for initial shortcomings.

Soyinka shared his belief that leaders often face a starting point lower than ground zero and need time to navigate complex issues. Regarding his visit, Soyinka disclosed a seven-point agenda that he discussed with the President, refraining from providing specific details. He humorously mentioned that the visit was somewhat awkward, considering his previous attempt to dissuade Tinubu from running for office five years ago. Despite the past advice, Soyinka conveyed Christmas wishes to Tinubu and his wife while expressing curiosity about how they were navigating the challenges facing Nigeria.
