Tensions escalated in Ondo State as enraged protesters stormed the office of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Alagbaka, Akure, to express outrage over the killing of five farmers by suspected armed herdsmen.
The unrest follows a wave of violent attacks, including a deadly reprisal earlier this month that claimed multiple lives across four communities in Akure North Local Government Area.
According to the protesters, the latest victims were gunned down on Wednesday morning in Aba Oyinbo, Akure North.
In a powerful demonstration of grief and anger, they brought the bodies of the slain farmers to the governor’s office, demanding swift justice.
The protest also spread to the Akure-Owo highway at Ogbese, where demonstrators blocked the road, causing severe traffic disruptions and leaving many motorists stranded.
As tensions remain high, security forces are working to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
