In an interview with reporters on Thursday, May 15, Orngu emphasized that President Tinubu’s economic and institutional reforms are setting Nigeria on a path toward sustainable prosperity that will benefit future generations.
“President Tinubu is not just paying lip service to reform. He is tackling the difficult and necessary work of fixing a broken system,” Orngu told Daily Post.
He singled out the removal of the fuel subsidy as one of the Tinubu administration’s most courageous decisions—a vital step to dismantle a system that perpetuated poverty while enriching a select few.
“Though unpopular, the subsidy removal was the right move. It takes real courage to challenge decades of entrenched waste and corruption,” he added.
Orngu, who also served as Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs to the Governor of Benue State, noted that unlike before, no Nigerian governor currently resorts to borrowing to pay salaries, signaling greater stability in the country’s public finances under Tinubu’s leadership.
Criticizing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Orngu urged the PDP leader to step away from divisive politics and support President Tinubu’s national development agenda.
“This is a period for rebuilding Nigeria, not engaging in petty politics. Those who truly care about the nation should unite behind Tinubu’s vision,” he said.
Orngu called on Nigerian youths to firmly back President Tinubu, urging them to grant him a strong mandate in 2027 to continue his reform agenda.
“The future is ours to shape, and we must support the leader who is laying the foundation for it.”
