Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dino Melaye, has fired back at veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, for criticizing his public display of wealth on social media.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Charly Boy had earlier taken a swipe at Melaye via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, May 12, after reposting a video of the former senator strutting with a luxury travel bag and dressed in designer outfits. The entertainer insinuated that Melaye’s flamboyant lifestyle might be masking a deeper emotional struggle, suggesting that even amidst affluence, one can suffer from clinical depression.

He wrote:

“This shows that even in the midst of luxury or obscene affluence, it is possible to be clinically depressed. Not all forms of mental illness are visible.”

Responding on Thursday, May 15, 2025, Melaye dismissed the criticism, stating that Charly Boy lacks the moral authority to judge his lifestyle.

He described the entertainer as a man consumed by envy, who lives a rebellious and chaotic existence yet presumes to diagnose others.

Melaye wrote:

“It’s truly fascinating how someone whose entire persona is built on defying moral norms suddenly feels qualified to offer psychological diagnoses from within his eccentric worldview. The irony is almost poetic.

Coming from a man who has turned his body into a canvas of confusion and embraced a lifestyle that flirts with moral disorder, your unsolicited analysis reeks of envy disguised as concern.

Since when did Charly Boy become the moral compass of society? What qualifications does he have to diagnose depression based on someone’s fashion choices? Yellow symbolizes vibrance and royalty in many cultures—not sickness.

Let’s not pretend to be intellectuals while wrapped in hypocrisy. Before casting judgment on another’s expression, perhaps take a long look at your own legacy.”
