BREAKING: Osun Lawmakers Throw Weight Behind Gov Adeleke For 2026 Showdown

Members of the Osun State House of Assembly have unanimously declared their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, endorsing his bid for a second term as the 2026 gubernatorial election approaches.

The vote of confidence was initiated by Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Hon. Taofiq Olayiwola of Ede South Constituency.

According to Naija News, the endorsement occurred during Tuesday’s plenary session. The 26-member Assembly—comprising 25 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC)—expressed resounding support for the governor’s leadership.

Speaker Adewale Egbedun commended Governor Adeleke in celebration of his 65th birthday, applauding his progress on the state’s five-point agenda and his dedication to Osun’s development.

Speaking in favor of the motion, Hon. Simeon Popoola, representing Boripe-Boluwaduro Constituency, praised the governor’s integrity and sincerity.
“Politics aside, Mr. Governor is a straightforward, kind-hearted individual. These qualities have greatly enhanced his leadership,” Popoola remarked.

Following deliberations, the Speaker put the motion to a vote—and it was unanimously adopted by the chamber.
