In a statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the new deadline for enforcement is now set for October 2, 2025.
Adejobi explained that this extension follows a significant increase in permit applications via the official portal, showing greater public compliance with the directive.
The statement reads:
“The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has approved a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, with the new enforcement date scheduled for October 2, 2025.
“This extension is necessary to allow adequate time for thorough examination of applications, ensuring permits are granted only to eligible individuals in line with national security concerns.
“It will also enable continued improvements in both digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the permit system’s integrity and prevent misuse. The Nigeria Police Force reiterates that the only authorized platform for applications is https://possap.gov.ng, and warns the public to avoid unofficial channels.
“Citizens are urged to report any form of extortion, hidden fees, or unauthorized processing to the Police through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
“The Nigeria Police Force thanks Nigerians for their cooperation and remains committed to balancing public convenience with strong security measures to protect everyone.”
