Breaking Power Shift: Christopher Musa Takes Charge Of Nigeria’s Defence Ministry

His confirmation came after an intense five-hour screening session, where senators thoroughly questioned and scrutinized his credentials and plans.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier nominated Musa to replace Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down due to health-related concerns.

During the screening, Musa vowed to enforce a zero-tolerance approach to banditry, terrorism, and all forms of criminality once he assumes office. He assured lawmakers that he would adopt firm, strategic, and decisive measures to tackle the nation’s mounting security challenges.

The former Chief of Defence Staff emphasized that his leadership would fully leverage the capabilities of the armed forces to restore peace and stability in affected communities.

Musa also pledged to probe the withdrawal of troops ahead of the attack on Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School in Maga, Danko Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.

Additionally, he promised to investigate the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba, while condemning the recent abduction and murder of another brigade commander by terrorists in Borno State, assuring that such incidents will not go unchecked.
