Fear Of Trump? Lawmakers Reveal Sh*cking Reason Behind Musa’s Tough Screening Battle
The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday declined a proposal to allow former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, to simply “take a bow and go” during his ministerial screening before the National Assembly.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The motion, raised by Senator Sani Musa of Niger East, argued that the nominee had already undergone extensive closed-door assessments and had served at the highest levels of Nigeria’s security operations. Therefore, he believed the Senate should spare him further questioning.
However, the suggestion sparked strong opposition from lawmakers and was ultimately overruled by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who insisted that the sensitivity of the nation’s security situation demanded a thorough interrogation.
Akpabio emphasized the global attention currently focused on Nigeria, explicitly noting that U.S. President Donald Trump was closely monitoring the country’s security affairs. He asserted that Musa must clearly outline his plans to restore safety across the nation.
“This is not the time for political courtesy. The insecurity situation is severe, and Nigerians deserve answers,” Akpabio said. “Even Donald Trump is on our neck. With over 200 children still in captivity, we must allow the nominee to give Nigerians hope.”
He stressed that Musa’s elevation to Defence Minister was a matter of national urgency, not political routine, and that citizens expected transparency on how he would address the threats facing the country.
After several hours of rigorous questioning, the Senate eventually confirmed Christopher Musa as the new Minister of Defence.
