The federal government, under the leadership of Bola Tinubu, has announced an increase in the price of gas to power, moving it from $2.18 Metric Million British Thermal Unit (MMBTU) to $2.42MMBTU. This development was disclosed by Engr. Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), in a document released on Monday in Abuja.
Titled “Announcement of the Year 2024 Domestic Based Price (DBR) and Applicable Wholesale of Natural Gas for Strategic Sectors,” the document signifies a significant policy shift in the energy sector.
