In a statement issued on Monday, the President condemned the killing of one of the abducted teachers, describing the act as cruel, tragic, and unacceptable.

The attack occurred last Friday when armed men invaded Esiele community in Oriire Local Government Area and abducted staff and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.

Tinubu said security forces have continued operations in the area and are making efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible, including any collaborators within the community.

He extended condolences to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the state government, and families affected by the incident, assuring them of the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the state until all victims are safely returned.

The President also commended the Inspector-General of Police and security operatives in Oyo and Kwara States for their swift response, noting that tactical teams and the Intelligence Response Team were immediately deployed for rescue operations.

Tinubu disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police is personally coordinating the mission under presidential directives, expressing confidence that progress would soon be made and those behind the attack brought to justice.

He further noted that the rising cases of kidnapping in parts of the country underscore the urgent need for state policing, particularly in areas with limited security coverage.

The President urged the National Assembly to accelerate legislative processes that would enable states to establish their own police structures.
