Amaechi also declared that he has no intention of stepping down for any aspirant ahead of the party primaries.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Amaechi reflected on Atiku’s long-standing presidential ambitions and his history in Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, while Atiku has consistently succeeded in securing party nominations over the years, he has repeatedly failed to convert those victories into success at the general election level.

Amaechi argued that winning a party primary does not automatically translate to nationwide acceptance, stressing that presidential elections are ultimately decided by broad voter support across the country.

He maintained that true political strength lies not in dominating internal party contests, but in being widely electable among Nigerians.

The former Rivers State governor further pointed to Atiku’s decades-long pursuit of the presidency, noting that despite contesting several times since the early 1990s, he has yet to secure victory in a national election.

Amaechi said:

“He has been contesting since 1992. Each time he wins the primaries, he loses the general election. The issue is electability, and Atiku is not electable.

“I hear people say former Vice President Atiku has never lost a primary election before. Maybe this will be the first time. But that is not even the main issue. The real issue is that whenever he wins the primaries, he still fails to win the election.
