In response to the passing of the Emir, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, President Bola Tinubu expressed heartfelt condolences to the ruling Sabah family, the government, and the people of the State of Kuwait. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, conveyed Tinubu’s sympathies in a statement issued in Abuja.

President Tinubu praised the late Emir for his notable accomplishments within a short span of time. Describing Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah as a compassionate and merciful leader, Tinubu highlighted the Emir’s initiatives, including the granting of amnesty to political prisoners and dissidents. The Nigerian leader commended the late monarch for his efforts in fostering progress and stability in the state.

Expressing solidarity with the grieving House of Sabah and all those affected by the loss, Tinubu extended his condolences to the mourning community. He invoked prayers to Almighty Allah, seeking mercy for the departed Emir and beseeching a place for him in Aljannah Firdaus.

The passing of Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, who died at the age of 86, was officially announced by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah al-Sabah, the minister of his emiri court. The announcement was broadcasted on state television, marking the end of an era for Kuwait and its leadership.
