Marwa has been nominated to represent the North-East zone on the commission’s board.

The request was contained in a letter read on the floor of the Senate during plenary by the Senate President.

In the letter, Tinubu stated that the nomination was made in accordance with the provisions of the NDDC Establishment Act.

The appointment is expected to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of the former board member, Hon Abdulrazak Namdas, who stepped down on March 30, 2026, to pursue his governorship ambition in Adamawa State.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the Senate would give the nomination prompt consideration, noting that it would help ensure the smooth functioning of the board.

Following the reading of the letter, the Senate referred Marwa’s nomination to the Committee on the NDDC for screening and further legislative review.

The committee is expected to examine her credentials and report back to the chamber for final approval.

If confirmed, Dr Marwa will represent the North-East zone on the NDDC Governing Board.

The NDDC is responsible for implementing development programmes across the Niger Delta region, including infrastructure projects and other intervention initiatives.
