The President conveyed this commitment on Wednesday during the launch of the National Geospatial Data Repository, Digital CRVS System, and the inauguration of the National Coordination Committee for CRVS at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Emphasizing the importance of data for national development, President Tinubu called for enhanced collaboration among various government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
He urged census experts to employ state-of-the-art technology in gathering population data for Nigeria, stressing that the nation should not fall behind in efficient data collection.
Furthermore, President Tinubu expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s resilience in the face of natural disasters.
It is worth noting that in the previous administration of Muhammadu Buhari, the government had allocated N200 billion to the Population Commission for the purpose of conducting a national census.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, a significant portion of these funds was used during the initial stages of census preparation, leading to the postponement of the census exercise.
