EFCC Complies With Court Order: Emefiele Appears In Court
In Abuja on Wednesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) complied with a High Court order from the Federal Capital Territory regarding the case of Godwin Emefiele, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria…CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Emefiele, who had been in custody of federal government security agencies for more than 150 days, was brought to court as per the directive of Justice Olukayode Adeniyi.
Dressed in a yellow Babariga with a matching Hausa cap, the former CBN Governor arrived at the courtroom at approximately 12:30, accompanied by a group of EFCC operatives providing security.
Outside the court premises, Emefiele’s friends and relatives gathered, eagerly awaiting the Judge’s arrival for a hearing related to his fundamental human rights case.
Justice Adeniyi had reaffirmed his order on Monday, stating that the detained former CBN governor should be brought to court on November 8 for the purpose of granting him bail.
Alternatively, he directed the anti-graft agency to grant bail to Emefiele or permit the court to do so in accordance with the provisions of the law regarding fundamental human rights.
