Building Nightmares: Cost Of Dangote, BUA Cement Skyrockets As Dealers Blame Inflation, High Transport Costs
Cement prices across Nigeria have continued to fluctuate in November 2025, depending on region, brand, and transportation costs. However, market data show that the average retail price for a 50 kg bag currently falls within the following ranges:....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
-
Dangote Cement: ₦10,200 – ₦10,400 per bag
-
BUA Cement: ₦10,100 – ₦10,300 per bag
-
Lafarge Cement: ₦10,400 – ₦10,600 per bag
These figures reflect prices in major urban centres such as Lagos and Abuja and may be slightly higher in other parts of the country due to rising operational and logistics expenses.
Why Cement Prices Remain Above ₦10,000
1. High Production and Logistics Costs
Soaring fuel and diesel prices have significantly increased transportation expenses for raw materials and finished goods. The continued depreciation of the naira has also raised the cost of imported components like machinery and spare parts. Additionally, poor road networks in some regions add to overall distribution costs, which are ultimately passed on to consumers.
2. Strong Construction Demand
Nigeria’s booming construction sector — driven by major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, expanding real estate ventures, and government initiatives — continues to fuel demand for cement. This strong demand gives manufacturers leverage to maintain higher prices.
3. Supply Constraints and Industry Challenges
Despite capacity expansion by leading producers like Dangote, BUA, and Lafarge, supply-chain bottlenecks and localized shortages persist, contributing to price hikes across the country.
4. Regional Price Variations
Cement prices differ slightly by location. Lagos and other southern markets benefit from proximity to ports and depots, resulting in relatively lower prices, while northern and inland regions pay more due to higher transportation costs.
