Buyer Beware! Man Arraigned For Allegedly Swindling Victim In Fake Land Sale

The police on Thursday brought 39-year-old Rafiu Ademola before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, charging him with an alleged N1.4 million land fraud.

Ademola, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju informed the court that the offences were committed on February 20 in the Ojoo area of Ibadan.

He stated that Ademola allegedly collected N1.4 million from the complainant, Azeez Odunayo, under the guise of selling him two plots of land but failed to fulfill the agreement, instead converting the money for personal use.

Magistrate Gladys Oladele granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same amount and adjourned the case to August 8 for hearing.
