CAF Names Ethiopian Officials For Guinea-Bissau Vs Nigeria AFCON Qualifier

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a team of Ethiopian officials to oversee Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria in Bissau.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Tewodros Mitiku has been selected as the centre referee for the Group L encounter, which will be played at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro.

Mitiku will be assisted by compatriots Fasika Biru Fasika and Tigle Belachew, who have been appointed as the first and second assistant referees respectively. Manuhe Woldetsadik will serve as the fourth official.

CAF has also named Senegalese official Yaya Balde as the match commissioner, while former Gambian FIFA referee Papa Bakary Gassama will work as the referee assessor.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 4pm local time in Bissau, which is 5pm Nigerian time.

Both Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria enter the fixture with three points from their opening Group L matches. Nigeria began its qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar, while Guinea-Bissau recorded a 2-0 win against Tanzania.

Guinea-Bissau currently sit at the top of the group on goal difference, with Nigeria occupying second position. The outcome of Tuesday’s encounter will determine which of the two sides moves into first place after the second round of matches.

With only one additional qualification place available in Group L apart from co-host Tanzania, the meeting represents an important fixture for both teams as they continue their pursuit of a place at the 2027 AFCON.
