CAN Exposes Sinister Plot Behind Fake News On Akume’s Exit – Ethnic, Religious Tension Alert

The association dismissed the claim that Akume had been replaced by Hadiza Bala Usman as false and malicious, accusing its originators of attempting to stoke religious and political tensions.
In a statement issued on Monday, Northern CAN Chairman, Rev. John Joseph, expressed concern that certain individuals are exploiting sensitive national issues at a time when the country urgently needs unity and healing.
He emphasized that Senator Akume’s position within the federal government reflects a vital symbol of religious and regional inclusion, and warned that any effort to undermine such representation would be perceived as a threat to national unity and harmony.
“At a time when our nation is in dire need of cohesion and responsible governance, it is troubling to witness the spread of baseless falsehoods,” he said. “Senator Akume remains one of the few prominent Christian voices in the federal cabinet, and his contributions have been characterized by integrity, maturity, and a strong commitment to national progress.”
The association further alleged that the rumour was part of a broader agenda aimed at diminishing Christian representation in government, describing it as both dangerous and unacceptable.
Rev. Joseph urged security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible for the misleading report, warning that exploiting religious and ethnic sentiments for political purposes must not be allowed to succeed.
