The assault claimed at least six lives, with one person still missing. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers struck under the cover of darkness, wreaking havoc, destroying property worth millions of naira, and leaving a trail of sorrow.

Tragically, a local vigilante lost his life when a bomb detonated during efforts to repel the attackers. In Banga, two men were shot dead, while a woman reportedly died from shock amid the chaos. In the nearby community of Larh, two other residents were also killed under unclear circumstances.

A police patrol vehicle dispatched from Garaha was targeted during the raid and destroyed by an improvised explosive device (IED). Fortunately, all officers had exited the vehicle moments before the explosion, narrowly escaping death.

Residents described the incident as devastating and voiced their growing frustration over inadequate security. Many called on authorities to act swiftly to prevent further bloodshed.

“We’re losing our people to these monsters, and now even our protectors are being targeted,” said one resident who chose to remain anonymous.

As of Wednesday, a young boy from Banga remains missing. His phone reportedly continues to ring unanswered, raising fears of a possible abduction—an all-too-familiar tactic of the extremists.

An unexploded device was also discovered in Banga, prompting urgent calls for a bomb disposal squad to neutralize the threat.

This latest attack comes just two months after similar invasions in Kwapre and other Hong villages, fueling fears that Boko Haram and its affiliate, ISWAP, may be regaining momentum in the region.

Confirming the incident, Chairman of Hong LGA, Umar Wa’ganda, stated that six people were confirmed dead, and one victim is currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
