The Clerk of the House of Representatives, Yahaya Danzaria, conveyed this information in a statement on Monday. Cardoso is set to present insights during the plenary session, focusing on the depreciation of the naira and other issues impacting the monetary facet of the economy.

The CBN governor will engage in a sectorial debate concentrating on the financial sector, where he and other government officials will update lawmakers on the status of the naira and the execution of the 2024 budget. Last week, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen had previously revealed that the financial sector debate aims to assess the nation’s preparedness to mobilize the required financial resources for budget implementation.

Akin Rotimi, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, confirmed the development in a Monday statement. He highlighted that the sectoral debate, part of the periodic policy brief series, seeks to enhance transparency and accountability in government operations. The financial sector edition is slated for Tuesday, 6th February 2024, featuring key stakeholders such as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Budget and Planning, CBN Governor, and FIRS Chairman.
