As of this week, market analysis reveals the following prices:

  • Dangote Cement: ₦8,500 per 50kg bag
  • BUA Cement: ₦8,000 per 50kg bag
  • Lafarge Cement (Unicem): ₦9,500 per 50kg bag
  • Elephant Supaset Portland Limestone Cement: ₦10,000 per 50kg bag

Reasons for the Rising Cement Prices

Despite prior government promises to stabilize prices, cement costs have remained unpredictable due to several factors:

  1. High Production Costs:
Manufacturers are grappling with rising energy, logistics, and raw material costs. The surge in gas, diesel, and electricity tariffs has directly increased production costs, compelling manufacturers to raise prices.

  2. Transportation and Distribution Expenses:
The high cost of fuel and diesel has caused transportation costs to soar, particularly impacting states located far from production centers, such as the South-East and North-East regions.

  3. Foreign Exchange Issues
